Marko Mondays: Devin Harris
If y’all have been following the New Jersey Nets, you would know that Devin Harris, the centerpiece of the blockbuster trade last season with the Dallas Mavericks for Jason Kidd, is fourth in the league in scoring. That’s right; he’s fourth, with 25.3 ppg. Only guys like Dwayne Wade, LeBron James, and Chris Bosh precede him. He’s outscored some guy called Kobe Bryant. That’s pretty good company. So who would you take? Jose Calderon or Devin Harris? Jose Calderon is great for what he is, an efficient game manager who can shoot like hell, but he can't replicate Harris ability to break down the defence and get in the paint and score in general. Devin can run the fast break advantage better and also is a better defender all around then Jose. Both point guards have their uses. Calderon is the perfect complimentary PG to set up the stars and fits the mold of the PG of contending teams, Harris is the star, or at least that's what he's shown us so far. If Devin Harris continues to step up his game with the help of Vince Carter and the Nets' supporting cast, including young center Brook Lopez, all of the above can be achieved by the time this season is all said and done. The Nets are proving that they don't need to wait for the proclaimed “magical” summer of 2010.
don't booooost brooke lopez!
